Winter Session: The 40 hour work week for student employment begins 12/20 and ends the day before the spring semester begins on 1/16. During this time Student Assistants may work up to a maximum of 40 hours per week but shall not be scheduled, nor permitted, to work overtime.
Annual Performance Evaluations: A reminder to all managers that annual performance evaluations to be completed as follows: Staff review period (July 1 - June 30), due on August 1 MPP review period (July 1 - June 30), due on September 1

Labor and Employee Relations Support:

Labor Relations serves as a liaison between University management and staff campus union representatives. Labor Relations also provides interpretation and clarification of the various staff collective bargaining agreements, including bargaining updates and contract changes. For assistance please contact a member of the Labor and Employee Relations Team.

  • Questions on policies and procedures
  • Guidance on best practices
  • Resolution of conflict/disputes at earliest possible stage
  • Administration of collective bargaining agreements
  • Issues involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, reports of improper activities, work-related injuries, disability and reasonable accommodation

In addition, Employee Relations and Compliance responds to employees’ complaints and grievances by:

  • Conducting investigations of alleged discrimination and retaliation
  • Reporting of improper activities
  • Analyzing complaints and grievances as they arise for early intervention in disputes with potential financial and/or legal liability
  • Providing litigation support for disputes that end up in court or with an external agency

Other functions of Employee Relations and Compliance Services include:

  • Monitoring changes in federal affirmative action regulations and communicate them to the appropriate departments
  • Updating affirmative action plan
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures to comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations on civil rights and other human resources issues
  • Providing and coordinating trainings for managers on issues detailed above
